Ralph and Piggy

Ralph and Piggy were the first boys to be introduced in the book. Ralph is one of the older boys, he is very good looking and slim. In the beginning, he is very care free and fun; but when all the other boys arrive, he realizes he has to step up and be a leader. He is the boy that finds the conch and that is how he was elected to be chief. He likes to make fun of Piggy in the beginning, but he starts to get protective over him as the story goes on. Piggy is like the adult on the island. He is a very chubby child with asthma and very big glasses. He is the one to start taking names of the lilnuns. He represents intellect in the story, because he is very smart.
